Intro to Theatre

The Intro to Theatre class will go over the basics of theatre education such as stage directions and general vocabulary and slang. The students will familiarize themselves with scripts and understand what each element is asking the actor to do. We will also cover parts of a stage, auditorium and theatre.

Acting Techniques

The Acting Techniques class will primarily be scene study and monologue work as we use and understand different tactics, actor’s objective vs. obstacle and character’s relationships onstage. We will be taking an intense approach to analyzing and picking at each character and their motives and actions.

Monologues

Our Monologue class will highlight the different tactics you can approach with your monologue, the rhythm, character analysis, utilizing examples, and the importance of memorization.

Scene Breakdown

In our “scene breakdown” class, we will discuss how to properly analyze a scene, how to approach it, character analysis, as well as go over examples.

Dialects

In our Dialects class, we will approach a variety of dialects that are commonly used in theatre, such as RP British, Modern London, Southern (Texas), and more. We will give examples of the background of each dialect, give audio examples, as well as practice guides.

Movement & Blocking

In Movement and Blocking, we will discuss the do’s and don’ts, where to approach either the scene or monologue blocking, and why movement is very important in theatre.

Voice & Speech

Voice and Speech focuses on the correct placement and articulation of your words through constant warm-ups and reading activities to achieve theatre-level projection. We will also go over the difference of voice and speech techniques on stage and on screen.

Audition & Self-Tape Workshop

The Audition and Self-Tape Workshop will focus on the etiquette and technique an actor needs when stepping into an audition. We will be using audition sides as we utilize a mixture of cold-reading and memorization. We will also be covering the steps for a good and efficient self-tape audition such as lighting, voice, camera angles and more.
